Program Description

TBRA is closed at this time. Please check back periodically for updates.

Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) assists income eligible families with by paying a portion of their monthly rent. Assistance with security and utility deposits in conjunction with the TBRA eligible rental may also available.

For more information about TBRA, please see the FAQ's below. This program is not able to fund emergency rental or utility  assistance.

TBRA programs differ from other types of rental housing activities in three key ways:

  • TBRA programs help individual households, rather than subsidizing particular rental projects.

  • TBRA assistance moves with the tenant—if the household no longer wishes to rent a particular unit, the household may take its TBRA and move to another rental property.

  • The level of TBRA subsidy varies—the level of subsidy is based upon the income of the household and the particular unit the household selects.

To Apply: Please complete the TBRA Pre-Application located on this page. Once the period to submit a pre-application closes, a Program Specialist will reach out to you to review your pre-application and determine if you are eligible to apply for the program.
