The Paula A. Lewis Branch Library at 2950 SW Rosser Blvd. in Port St. Lucie is open Tuesday 9 to 8, Wednesday 9 to 5:30, Thursday 9 to 8, Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 8:30 to 5.
The Lewis Branch Library is the first new library facility to open in St. Lucie County in nearly 20 years. The former Port St. Lucie police substation is now a 21,000 square-foot full-service branch library to serve the southwestern portion of the county.
The new library was named after recently retired County Commissioner Paula A. Lewis, who has been a strong library supporter during her 20 years on the St. Lucie Board of County Commissioners, advocating for improvements to library buildings, staffing and programming. Ms. Lewis also served for nine years on the Friends of the St. Lucie County Library Executive Board.
While the new library has books, DVDs and other standard collection items, it also offers 3D printing, a Creation Station with access to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite, and a teen gaming room with advanced computers and wide-screen, curved monitors. It also features a conference room with large-screen display and collaborative systems furniture available for meetings at no charge and a large meeting room with a full-featured audio-visual system will soon be available for rental.
