Regional History Center pioneer houseThere are more than 37,600 students in St. Lucie County’s public schools. The school district oversees 19 elementary schools, 12 K-8 schools, three middle schools and six high schools.

More than 85 percent of our residents are high school graduates, while nearly 20 percent have a bachelor’s degree or higher.

In addition to the public education system, there are a number of research facilities located in St. Lucie County, including FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, USDA Horticultural Research Laboratory; The Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce and more.   IRSC Laser Lab
