Thursday, August 19, 2010 - County Requires Registration Of Vacant Homes

The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners have recently adopted an ordinance requiring vacant and/or foreclosed homes to be registered with the County's Code Compliance Division.

Under Ordinance 10-011, property managers, lenders and lien holders are required to fill out a registration form for abandoned or distressed properties within the unincorporated areas of St. Lucie County. These forms are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Code Compliance Division, located on the second floor of the St. Lucie County Administration Building, 2300 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce and online at www.stlucieco.gov/planning/code_compliance.htm.

As of Wednesday, Sept. 1, St. Lucie County Code officers will be citing those vacant properties that have not registered.
