Monday, December 6, 2010 - County Opens Cold Weather Shelter Through Thursday
With temperatures expected to drop into the mid-30s, St. Lucie County Public Safety officials announce the opening of two cold weather shelters through Thursday morning.
- Adult Single Men - Plant a Seed Ministries, 2001 Avenue D, Fort Pierce (corner of North 20th Street & Avenue D). This shelter will be for adult single males. The shelter will be open from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. The Ministry's cafe normally feeds residents from 5-6:30 p.m. daily. Donations for utilities and food would be appreciated. - Adult Single Women and Families - In The Image of Christ, Inc., 1203 Orange Ave., Fort Pierce. This shelter will be for single adult women and/or families and will be opened from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.with the assistance of the Mustard Seed Ministries. St. Lucie County typically opens a cold weather shelter when temperatures drop below 40 degrees for more than four hours.
