Tuesday, March 22, 2011 - Call To Artists For New Intermodal Facility Due April 8

St. Lucie County Housing and Community Services Department announces a Call for Mosaic Artists for a mural to be completed on the side of the Transit Intermodal Facility located at the corner of Avenue D and 8th Street.  Proposals are due by noon on Friday, April 8.

The mural is on the west wall facing 8th Street and is a tribute to the Highwaymen painters. The mural is 11’6” wide by 6’6” tall and will serves as a large focal point for the new facility. The image of a Royal Poinciana tree and landscape has already been selected and will be reproduced in permanent glass and tile mosaics. In addition, the mural will incorporate 28 bronze plaques bearing the names of the original 28 Highwaymen painters.
