Tuesday, August 2, 2011 - Bluefield Ranch Preserve Closed Until Aug. 4 Due To Wildfire
St. Lucie County's Environmental Resources Department has temporarily closed Bluefield Ranch Preserve until Thursday, Aug. 4 as a result of a wildfire that started on the property sometime last night.Crews from the Florida Division of Forestry and Environmental Resources are monitoring and cleaning up the 20-30 acre fire, watching for “flare ups” and “hot spots.”
Part of St. Lucie County's Environmentally Significant Lands program, Bluefield Ranch Preserve is located at 30501 Bluefield Road in western St. Lucie County off State Road 70. It encompasses 3,285 acres and features 20 miles of trails and an observation deck. Bluefield is well known for its elaborate multiuser trail system for horseback riding, biking and hiking. St. Lucie County's preserves are open every day during daylight hours.
